The study evaluates the hypofunction of hippocampal cholinergic system mediated by soluble monomeric amyloid beta peptide 1-40 at concentrations within the physiologic and low neurotoxic ranges and the ability of plant cysteine proteases bromelain and papain to influence the effects of amyloid.
