Early Palaeozoic Clastic Sediments Found in Boreholes from the SE Surroundings of Brno (Czech Republic)
Original language description
Several boreholes situated in the SE surroundings of Brno penetrated layers of Early Palaeozoic basal clastics (Old Red sandstone) forming part of sedimentary cover of weathered granitoids of the Brno massif. The clastic sediments in several boreholes are palaeontologicaly dated by presence of Acritarcha to Early Cambrian. In the other boreholes an age of the clastics was determined according to their relations to overlying palaeontologicaly dated Early to Middle Devonian limestones. A number of amplesof basal sediments were collected for detailed petrological and geochemical study to differences Cambrian and Devonian clastics. The source area was of the continental arc/active continental margin type, and was dominated by intermediate and acid
