Original language description
Calcareous nannofossils of the Karpatian regional stage of Central Paratethys are typical by the co-occurrence of Helicosphaera ampliaperta and Sphenolithus heteromorphus, Zone NN4. Character of nannoplankton assemblages (e.g. higher numbers of helicospaerids, small reticulofenestrids and abundance of Coccolithus pelagicus) indicates shalow waters and variable-salinity environment of epicontinental sea. Species diversity of nannofossil assemblages differs in the individual basins of the area.

Czech description
Vápnité nanofosilie regionálního stupně karpat, Centrální Paratethys, jsou typické společným výskytem druhů Helicosphaera ampliaperta a Sphenolithus heteromorphus, zóna NN4. Vývoj společenstev (tj. zvýšený počet helikosfér a malých retikulofenester a hojnost druhu Coccolithus pelagicus) indikuje mělké vody a případné kolísání salinity epikontinentálního moře. Druhová diversita v jednotlivých pánvích je rozdílná.
