Retention and accumulation of arsenic in ecosystems along the arsenic deposition gradient, Czech Republic

  • Original language description

Samples of mineral soils, humificated organic matter, needles, herbs, mosses and tree rings at four small catchments (Jezeří, Na Lizu, U dvou louček and Uhlířská) a part of GEOMON network of small catchments in the Czech republic) have been collected toanalyze arsenic concentration in. These four small catchments were selected to span the whole pollution gradient. The highest As concentrations in soils and biological matter come from Jezeří which was extremely polluted in past. Despite the downward trend in As atmospheric deposition, As contamination persists at this ecosystem bound to both mineral and organic matter.
