The Krosno lithofacies represents the youngest synorogenic flysch sediments largely terminating the last depositional history in the Flysch belt of Western Carpathians. The age of this lithofacies embraces the interval from the Late Oligocene to Early Miocene.The deposition of this flysch lithofacies replaced the euxinic sedimentation of underlying Menilite Formation. This change in deposition was connected with Neoalpine orogenetic movements during the Oligocene which evoked the fundamental rearangement of the orogenic belt.The aim of the present paper is to point out the lithologic, petrologic, sedimentologic and tectonic differences between the Krosno lithofacies and underlying deposits.

Czech description

Svrchnooligocenní až spodnomiocenní synorogenní krosněnská litofacie ukončuje flyšovou sedimentaci Západních Karpat. Ukládání této litofacie nahradila hypoxickou sedimentaci podložních menilitů. Tato změna v usazování byla spojena s helvetskou neoalpínskou orogenezí protoparatethydy. Rozdíly v deformaci krsoněnské litofacie a podložních svrchnokřídových až eocenních sedimentů jsou zaznamenány ve všech tektonofaciálních jednotkách vnější (menilito-krosněnské) skupiny příkrovů. Cílem příspěvku je poukázatna litologické, petrologické, sedimentologické a tektonické rozdíly mezi krosněnskou litofacií a podložními jednotkami.
