The system Os-Mo-S
Original language description
Phase relations in the Os-Mo-S system were studied by the technique of evacuated silica glass tubes in a 1000 isothermal section. Molybdenite forms stable assemblages with erlichmanite and osmium. Mo2S3 coexists with Os, Mo and Mo-Os alloys. Experimentsaimed at the determination of the MoS2 -OsS2 solvus were conducted at temperatures 600 - 1200°C. Molybdenite dissolves 0.24 and <0.2 at.% Os at 1200°C and 1000°C, respectively; below 1000°C, the Os contents are below 0.1 at%. Os concentrations in naturalmolybdenite are extremely low, on the order of ppb (Stein et al. 2001), and therefore are extremely unlikely to reach the experimentally established solubility limit. According to a thermodynamic analysis, OsS2 is stable in the pyrrhotite stability field, which corresponds to a geologically common activity of sulphur. Therefore, Os will prefer to be sulphide-bonded under the same conditions under which molybdenite occurs in nature.

Czech description
Fázové vztahy v soustavě Os-Mo-S byly studovány technikou zatavených evakuovaných křemenných trubic v teplotním řezu 1000 °C . Molybdenit tvoří stabilní asicoace s erlichmanitem a osmiem. Mo2S3 coexistuje s Os, Mo a Mo-Os slitinama. Experimenty zaměřenéna solvus MoS2 -OsS2 byly provedeny v teplotním intervalu 600 ? 1200 °C . Při 1200 °C se v molybdenitu rozpouští 0.24 and <0.2 at.% Os.
