Original language description
The paper deals with the new approach to basin subdivision, provenance of detrital material, and thermal history. The composition of detrital minerals, such as garnets, provides evidence on the diversity of provenance of the sand bodies and units withinthe original subbasins. The westernmost Andělská hora formation of the Nízký Jeseník (Světlá Greywacke Member) does not have a counterpart in the Drahany Upland. The ?western Culm basin? comprises from S to N the Protivanov and Horní Benešov Fms. with typical polymictic assemblage of translucent heavy minerals and detrital garnets. The eastern Culm basin is subdivided to the lower and upper suite with pyrop-almandine garnets dominating in the latter. The most substantial change within the garnet detritus reflects sudden influx of HT and HP metamorphites into upper suite of the eastern subbasin. The missing Upper Paleozoic units eroded from the original basin and from the later deformed edifice of the Variscan thrust and fold belt were r
