Modeling the hydrologic response of Lysina catchment (Czech Republic) using the SWAT model

  • Original language description

The study of the hydrologic and geochemical response of catchments around the world is of importance regarding the adaptation strategies to climate change. The SoilTrEC (Soil Transformations in European Catchments)Project developed a series of Critical Zone Observatories (CZOs) aiming towards studying the evolution of soil functions and services and potential threats due to human impacts. One of these CZOs is the Lysina catchment located in the Czech Republic. The area has been studied extensively and has become the focus of several research programs (SoilTrEC, GEOMON etc). The river basin model, SWAT2009 (Soil and Water Assessment Tool), coupled with a GIS interface (ArcSWAT), was applied to simulate the hydrology of the basin. The data used for the calibration period were from 1998-2001 while the verification period was from 2002-2005. Daily meteorological data from the Marianske Lazne station were used, in addition to flow data for the period of November 1989 to December 2011. The m
