    Critical Metals in Au-Se-Te Ores of Ozernovskoe Epithermal Deposit (Kamchatka, Russia)

    The Ozernovskoe epithermal Au-Te-Se deposit is characterized by stockworks and hydrothermal breccia pipes composed of quartz-cemented breccias, hosted within a Miocene andesitic-basaltic paleovolcanic complex. Ore deposition is attributed to recurrent cycles of intense hydrothermal boiling and brecciation, driven by episodic fluid overpressure. Two distinct sulfidation-state assemblages are recognized: high-sulfidation (HS) and intermediate-sulfidation (IS) mineralization, with the HS assemblage dominating the upper portions of the ore zones.The deposit hosts a diverse suite of precious and critical metals, including Au, Ag, Te, Se, Sn, W, Mo, In, Ga, and Tl. A hallmark of Ozernovskoe is its exceptionally high selenium enrichment in the ores, accompanied by abundant sulfide-selenide and telluride-selenide mineral associations. These include new mineral species such as svetlanaite and okruginite, alongside 9 unnamed species. Notably, this deposit represents the first documented occurrence of Sc-bearing minerals (e.g., thortveitite) in epithermal Au systems.
