Mobility of Pb in Sphagnum-derived peat

  • Original language description

Pb mobility in peat was evaluated by adding soluble and particulate Pb to intact peat cores that were maintained under different water level regimes (permanently high, permanently low, fluctuating). We found that Pb is largely immobile in peat and therefore 210Pb dating of peat profiles is a useful tool in biogeochemistry.
