    Trial plots were established in 1996. Red clover and tall fescue were strip seeded at 400 germinative seeds per sq m. Ploits were seeded in spring, after the first or second cut and in September. During following two years, dry matter yields, quality and botanical composition were setimated in all three harvests. Rec clover increased net energy of lactation (NEL) concentration in both years to 5.500 or 5.80 MJ/kg DM. With tall fexcue, the corresponsing NEL values were 5.09 and 5.50 MJ/kg DM.
