To the diagnosis and distribution of the Apple stem pitting virus in the Czech Republic.

  • Original language description

The occurrence of the Apple stem pitting virus (ASPV) and its strain Pear vein yellows virus has been studied in the Czech Republic. A strain of ASPV was mechanically inoculated on indicator host plants (Nicotiana occidentalis 37B, N. occidentalis subsp.obliga, Chenopodium murale, C. quinoa). The presence of the virus was confirmed in the diseased leaves of the indicator host plants by electron microscopy. Specific and effective RT-PCR assays have been adapted for the detection of ASPV (PVYV). Eight apple cultivars and three pear cultivares from production orchards and fopur apple cultivars from nursery orchards were tested by RT-PCR. The evidence of presence of ASPV has been proved in several apple and pear cultivars tested.
