Liming model and its evaluation.
Original language description
A suitable range of soil pH values is defined in relation to CEC value (mmol+/kg). A difference between the determined and calculated suitable pH is used as the basic value to determine lime requirement (CaCO3 t/ha). To evaluate the liming model function, 15-week incubation experiments with different doses of CaCO3 and CaO (equivalents to 1.5 to 9 t/ha CaCO3) were carried out in seven soils with naturally low pH. The goal of these observations was to determine changes in soil acidity concentrations of extractable aluminium, accumulation of mineral nitrogen forms and organic solutes in soil, and availability of nutrients from the soil by menas of test plants (barley and mustard). The liming rate determined by the liming model coincided with the requiredadjustment of soil pH. Liming rates providing for the desired pH value of soil were sufficiently high to induce a desirable depression of aluminium activity in the soils tested. he soils tested
