The influence of the harvest date of grasses and legumes on the increase of nutritional value of forage.
Original language description
Development of forage quality from grasses (8 varieties) and legumes (3 varieties) was monitored in 1998-2000. Energy concentration evaluated with NEL (net energy of lactation) of grasses was 6.23 MJ/kg of dry matter at the beginning of May and it fell to 4.69 MG/kg of dry matter til mid-June. The nergy concentration of legumes was 7.01 MJ/kg of dry matter and it fell to 5.30 MJ/kg of dry matter in the seventh collection. In the average of one week the energy concentration in grass forage decreased by 0.26 MJ/kg DM, in legumes by 0.28 MJ/kg DM.
