Perennial spinach-sorrel hybrid - schavnat as a new perspective multipurpose crop.
Original language description
Selection and breeding of new prospective plant species is the main condition for success development of energetic biomass production and the most important target for agricultural research. Long-term field experiments confirm, that schavnat (hybrid Rumex patientia L. x Rumex tianschanicus A.Los.) is a very prospective high productive energetic crop for growing in the temperate climatic conditions. This is a very adaptable plant with regard to the sowing term, agrotechnical level, fertilization and local soil-ecological conditions. In the course of one-shot annual harvest in drought state this crop steady provides on average near 10-14 tons of the dry aboveground biomass. An advantage of cultivation and harvest of this crop is the highly technologicalpotency and possibility to use of ordinary agricultural techniques. Moreover this hybrid sorrel is a very perspective crop for production of high quality forage, specialised food products and biologically active food and feed additives.
