Growth inhibitory effects of extracts from Tagetes erecta on larvae Spodoptera littoralis
Original language description
The extract from Tagetes erecta administered to Spodoptera littoralis in the larval diet caused prolongation of the larval, retarded growth, increased mortality. The extract applied as a 5% water solution caused the highest insect mortality of 100%. Theextract tested inhibited larval growth, compared to the control, in a concentration - dependent manager. The relative consumption rate per unit weight of the insect (RGR) were calculated for 1, 0.5 and 0.05% water solution as 9.7, 15.3 and 28.8 mg/mg-1day-1. At the control RGR were calculated as 48.6 mg/mg-1day-1. Extract feeding also extended the length of larval development. While the controls took 17.1 days from start of the second larval instar to the pupal ecdysis, insects surviving the feeding with 1, 0.5 and 0.05% needed 27.5, 19.6 and 18.7 days, respectively. Key words: Botanical insecticides, Tagetes erecta, growth inhibitory, Spodoptera littoralis, Plant-insect relations.

Růst inhibiční účinky extraktů z Tagetes erekta na larvy Spodoptera littoralis
Czech description
Rostlinné extrakty z Tagetes erecta byly testovány na housenky Spodoptera littoralis na růstovou inhibici a mortalitu. Extrakt 5% způsobil vysokou 100% mortalitu a ostatní inhibovali růst.
