Commonly grown cucumber cultivars in the Czech Republic are highly susceptible to Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV). New pickling cucumber hybrids '1/05', '9/05' and '12/05' were bred to achieve resistant plants. The level of their resistance to highlyvirulent Czech strain ZYMV-H was compared to four pickling and slicing cucumbers 'Othello', 'Melody F1', 'Dasher' and 'Lili' by determining the relative concentration of ZYMV protein in leaves. The hybrid '1/05' showed the highest degree of resistance to ZYMV-H and is very useful for next breeding.

Czech description
Odrůdy okurek pěstované v ČR jsou vysoce náchylné k viru žluté mozaiky cukety (ZYMV). Proto byly vyšlechtěny nové rezistentní hybridy okurek nakládaček '1/05', '9/05' a '12/05'. Jejich odolnost k českému vysoce virulentnímu kmenu ZYMV-H byla hodnocena srovnáním relativních koncentrací ZYMV-proteinu v listech testovaných hybridů ve srovnání s komerčními odrůdami okurek nakládaček 'Othello' a 'Melody F1', a salátovek 'Dasher' a 'Lili'. Hybrid '1/05' prokázal nejvyšší úroveň rezistence a je vhodný pro další šlechtění.
