Recent results of the Czech winter oilseed rape breeding

Original language description

The research and breeding organizations, who are the members of the Czech Rapeseed Association are engaged in winter rapeseed breeding. They participate on joint research projects that are aimed at the support of breeding of high performance domestic oilseed rape cultivars suitable for local environmental conditions with an acceptable price of seeds. The main activities are hybrid breeding based on cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) Ogu-INRA and Shaan 2A and self-incompatibility (SI), production of doubled haploids (DH), lines with improved quality and resistance against biotic and abiotic factors, optimization of the methods for seed quality analyses, development and utilization of molecular methods for selection of desirable genotypes with specific traits.
