The impact of topography on soil properties and yield and the effects of weather conditions
Original language description
The results showed that a combine harvester yield monitor can be used as a source of topographic data. The DEM, SM and FAM can be derived from these data with adequate precision using commonly used GIS software packages. These models can be used for comparison with other characteristics such as yield and soil properties. Focal statistics can be used to modify flow accumulation lines to the shape of the field for comparison with kriged maps. It is clear from our results that topography and weather conditions affected the yield in our field. From our four-year experiment with small grain crops, the results showed that the relation between yield and topography (elevation, slope and flow accumulation) was more important in dry than wet years under given soil conditions (Haplic Luvisol).
