Horticultural transgenic crops are under development and are beginning to be commercialised. The development of transgenic fruit cultivars is in progress. Plum cv. HoneySweet resistant to PPV was deregulated in thwe USA in 2010. Cv. HoneySweet is highlyresistant to PPV even under the high and permanent infection pressure from growing PPV infected grafts. PPV is not transmitted on cv. HoneySweet by aphids.
