In this field trial has been tested 23 varieties and 10 species of with four replications. In this paper is evaluated the yield potential of biomass and the corresponding production potential of biogas and methane in the three-year average. The specificyield of biogas and methane from the grasses has been determined by a batch process. The average annual yields of dry matter at analysed grass in an average of three-year period ranged from 9.3 t per ha for perennial ryegrass to 12.8 t per ha for tall oatgrass. The corresponding average annual yields per hectare of methane ranged from 2054 Nm3 per ha for perennial ryegrass to 3152 Nm3 per ha for tall oatgrass.
