The cultivation of non-traditional energetic plants and their influence on soil
Original language description
In the last time biofuel crops has been converted to an alternative to fossil raw materials for energy purposes. These crops can be introduced, so in the new environment they can affect local nature, and some of them can have an invasive character. Currently, we cannot certainly evaluate the ecological impact of use at such crops, especially without detailed long-term studies. The successful mechanisms of these plants to stay in a foreign environment is the production of allelopathic compounds, that canbe a part of their strategy for the invasion in given environment, thus they can lead to constraints of the autochthonous plant species presence. The Miscanthus and Silphium litter had a higher C:N ratio than the other plant and the control meadow litter. Miscanthus and Hybrid sorrel litter had a higher content of phenols than the other plants and cultural meadow litter. Significantly different basal soil respiration was found in sites planted with biofuel crops; however, this difference
