Reciprocal hybridization between diploid Ficaria calthifolia and tetraploid Ficaria verna subsp. verna: evidence from experimental crossing, genome size and molecular markers

  • Original language description

The paper tests the hypothesis on natural hybridization between two Ficaria species in central Europe. Experimental crossing, AFLP and plastid markers and genome size analysis using flow cytometry were used. It is concluded that hybridization occurs in both directions, but it is asymmetric, and gene flow between the two taxa is limited or absent.
