Pesticide comparison of Phylloneta impressa (Araneae: Theridiidae) females, cocoons and webs with prey remnants collected from a rape field before the harvest
Original language description
Pesticides are risky for spiders as non-targets in or near agricultural landscapes. The distribution of pesticides in adult females, cocoons and webs with prey remnants was investigated using three UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS methods. The array of pesticides was largest in webs with prey remnants. Pesticides were similar in spiders and cocoons. Some pesticides showed exceptional distribution, indicating a specific behavior. It appears that some pesticides are maternally transmitted. Comparison of analysis results with the used pesticides in the sampling area indicated that the source of pesticide contamination for the spiders can come from distant areas via the prey or via particles carried by the wind and attached to webs. The detection of methidathion, which has been banned for 15 years in the EU, is important because it must have been applied from old stocks outside the area of sampling. This study poses new questions for future investigations regarding fate of pesticides in the environment.
