Physiologic specialization of wheat leaf rust (Puccinia triticina Eriks.) in the Czech Republic in 2016-2021
Original language description
Leaf rust caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks, is an important disease of wheat that is most economically controlled by breeding for resistance. Due to the large number of different pathotypes of leaf rust, resistance breeding is a continuous process. Knowledge of virulence in the leaf rust population is a prerequisite for successful resistance breeding. Pathotypes in the leaf rust population are identified in some countries where deliberate breeding for leaf rust resistance is conducted. In the former Czechoslovakia pathotypes or physiologic races, of P. triticina have been studied since the 1960s.
