Stored product pests in stored grain in the Czech Republic

Original language description

Grain storage facilities in the Czech Republic were monitored for insect and mite infestation. In 1996 and 1997, 122 grain stores were visited and more than 400 grain samples were taken. Their analysis revealed 25 species of mites and 36 species of insects. The percentage of infested samples seems to have been increasing within last several years, in spite that the average storage time used to be much longer than it is in present. The most common pests were Sitophilus oryzae, S. granarius, Liposcelis decolor, Acarus siro, Lepidoglyphus destructor, Cheyletus eruditus.
