Original language description

Economic weights of production and reproduction traits of pig breeds were calculated for different crossing systems. Compared to a straightbred population, much more relative weight should be given to reproduction traits in dam breeds involved in a crossbreeding scheme. In three- and four-way crosses with no reciprocal crosses between the dam lines, reproduction traits are relatively more important in the breed used as maternal grandam of the terminal product than in that used as maternal grandsire.
