Quail lines were divergently selected for a change of the shape of the growth curve using the relative gain between 11th and 28th days of age (RG) as selection criterion. The HG line was selected for a high RG and the LG line for a low RG. The body weight at the age of 49 days was approximately held on the level of the control line C. For correlated response in reproduction, a higher rate of lay in the first week of lay was found in LG hens.
