The model with genetic groups was suggested for genetic evaluation of sire breeds in Slovak Republic. Genetic groups defined in pedigree file were based on the year of birth of imported animals. More information on imported animals will be necessary in order to take into account different genetic level of imported animal in the target population. Except the base information also the breeding values, method of genetic evaluation of imported animals and their parents should be available for imported animarted animals. Selection efficiency based on the model without genetic groups is lower in comparison to selection efficiency based on the model with genetic groups in population under study. rted animals.
