The hypotheses that in red deer (Cervus elaphus) the probability of becoming a harem holder (PBHH) occurs in stags bearing larger, branched antlers and showing low fluctuating asymmetry (FA) were tested. If analyzed separately, large antler size and lowrelative but high absolute FA increased PBBH. When using in one model antler size and FA factors, PBHH and the reproductive success were mainly dependent on antler size and branching than on FA. It was concluded in contrast to antler size FA is unlikelyto play any significant role in sexual selection.

Velikost a fluktuující asymetrie paroží u jelena evropského (Cervus elaphus) a pravděpodobnost, že se během říje stane vlastníkem harému
Czech description
Byly testovány hypotézy, že u jelena evropského (Cervus elaphus) je pravděpodobnost stát se vlastníkem harému u samců nesoucích veliké, rozvětvené paroží s nízkou fluktuující asymetrií (FA). Při oddělené analýze velikosti paroží a FA se zjistilo, že rozměrné paroží a nízká relativní, avšak vysoká absolutní FA zvyšovaly PBHH. Pomocí modelu zahrnujícího velikost paroží a FA se zjistilo, že PBBH a reprodukční úspěch závisely více na velikosti paroží a jeho rozvětvení, než na FA. Lze usoudit, že na rozdíl od velikosti paroží nehraje při pohlavním výběru pravděpodobně FA významnou roli.
