Soil and herbage nutrients under pasture patches
Original language description
Faeces are one of the key drivers affecting the sward structure and nutrient cycling on pastures. The effect of different grazing intensities of heifers on nutrient concentration in herbage and soil under tall sward height patches were studied in an upland area in northern part of the Czech Republic. The tall height sward patches (<10 cm) were selected from: i) intensive grazing with faeces (IGF); ii) extensive grazing with faeces (EGF); and iii) extensive grazing with no faeces (EGNF). We hypothesized that the faeces under tall sward height patches will significantly affect the amount of nutrients in soil and consequently in herbage.
