Selection for claw health and feed efficiency in the Czech Holstein
Original language description
Breeding of the Czech Holstein cattle (CH) is currently based on estimated breeding values for the complex of production, functional and exterior traits. Breeding objective for CH includes 10 traits; 17 traits are considered as selection criteria. Claw disease and feed intake were added there to improve health status and feed efficiency. Economic weights and selection responses for the current breeding objective traits and for the new traits were calculated. Selection response was estimated assuming standardised selection intensity.
