Temperature time behavior and oxygen content in mechanically aerated static compost piles
Original language description
Temperature time behaviour of matured compost is an indicator of used feedstock quality and also good feed-back informing about suitability of applied technological procedure. In the paper there are described two experiments using composting technology at open area in the belt piles. The goal of the experiments was to evaluate the effect of compost piles covering on the composting process course (in comparison with non-covered piles). Two types of sheets were used ? permeable fleece Top Tex of Sandberger and impermeable polyethylene sheet. The permeable composting sheet Top Tex provided the most suitable way to secure conditions of correct course of the composting process. Under the air-tight polyethylene sheet was more significant temperature fluctuation during the whole composting cycle. The fleece Top Tex has a favourable effect on oxygen content in compost as well. The highest values of oxygen content were found under the permeable Top Tex sheet.
