The Comparison of Soil Load by POPs in Two Major Imission Regions of the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

The data of soil load by persistent organic pollutant (POPs) in two environmentally affected coal field areas in the Czech Republic were compared. The North Moravian and North Bohemian coal field region have different preconditions and drivers of potential environmental pollution - opencast brown coal-mining of vs deep black coal mining, coal-fired power stations and petrochemical industry vs. metallurgical industry. The paper analyses how the regional differences environmentally manifest regarding thesoil load by persistent organic pollutants. The systematic soil sampling of agriculture soil in regions was conducted. The comparison of soil load by POPs was processed on the basis of Czech legislation for agricultural soils protection. The results, especially supported by the comparison of soil load by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and polychlorinated biphenyls, indicate generally higher load of the North Moravian region in comparison with the North Bohemian region. The load relate
