Original language description

Leptin concentrations in colostrum and blood serum of Large White sows after the first or the fourth parturition were detected the by sandwich ELISA. Leptin concentrations in both media were highly variable, however, the values correlated with each other. Negative correlation was found between leptin concentration in colostrum and the average weight of piglets in litter at 21 days of life. The correlations with the other traits of milk production and litter gain were statistically insignificant.
