Cloning and expression of the haloalkane dehalogenase gene dhmA from Mycobacterium avium N85 and preliminary characterization of DhmA
Original language description
Identification of the putative haloalkane dehalogenase gene dhmA from Mycobacterium avium subsp. avium, cloning of the gene and expresssion of recombinant DhmA in Escherichia coli was described. Sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of the sequence of dhmA was done and the putative catalytic triad and putative oxyanion hole of DhmA in catalytic site were proposed. Purification of wild type and the recombinant DhmA, and preliminary biochemical characterization was presented, and the function of M. avium DhmA in protection of the mycobacterial cells against halogenated substances was discussed.
