    A series of chalcones and dihydrochalcones were tested for their ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation and activity of bioactiovating enzyme cytochrome P4501A in rat hepatic microsomes. Potential adverse effects, namely inhibition of gap junctionalintercellular communication and cytotoxicity in rat liver epithelial cells, were detected after treatment with a number of chalcone derivatives suggesting that they should be excluded from additional screening as chemoprotective compounds. . In general,determination of potencies of tested compounds to inhibit GJIC should be involved in any set of methods for the in vitro screening of chemoprotective characteristics of potencial drugs.

    Série 31 chalkonů a dihydrochalkonů byly testovány na schopnost inhibovat lipidní peroxidaci a aktivitu bioaktivačního enzymu cytochromu P4501A. Potenciální adversní efekty (cytotoxicita a inhibice mezibuněčných spojení)byly detekovány po působení řadyztestovaných látek, které tak musí být vyřazenz z dalšího vyhledávání chemoprotektivních látek; tyto metody, sledující vedlejší adversní efekty, by měly být zařazeny ve screeningu chemoprotektivních vlastností potenciálních léčiv a preparátů.
