The effect of humic acid on mercury accumulation in the chicken organs and muscle tissues

  • Original language description

Forty female chickens were allocated to four groups ten birds each. Control group (K) was fed basal diet without supplementation. The second control group received basal diet with humic acid (HA) at a dose of 0.5 g per chicken/day. The first experimentalgroup was fed basal diet with methylmercury (MeHg) at the dose of 0.02 mg per chicken/day and the group of chickens MeHg + HA recieved 0.5 g HA per chicken/day. After 10-day treatment of the chickens with MeHg, significantly increased Hg concentrationswere detected in all examined tissues in comparison with the groups K and HA. The average concentrations in liver, kidneys, brain and muscle tissues were 424.2, 397.9, 81.6 and 79.2 ug Hg/kg, respectively. After concurrent treatment with HA and MeHg, Hgconcentrations were lower by 20.6 %, 23.8 %, 23.0 % and 18.6 % in liver, kidneys, brain and muscle tissues. Biological accumulation of Hg was 25.5% and 20.4% in MeHg and MeHg + HA groups, respectively.

Druhá skupina přijímala bazálnídietu s huminovou kyselinou (HA) v dávce 0,5 g per chicken/day. První pokusná skupina přijímala s bazální dietou metylrtuť (MeHg) v dávce 0,02 mg per chicken/day a skupina kuřat MeHg+HA navíc přijímala 0,5 g HA per chicken/day. Po krátkodobé zátěži kuřat MeHg byly zjištěny vysoce průkazně zvýšené koncentrace Hg ve všech sledovaných tkáních vůči skupinám K a HA. Cílovými orgány byly játra a ledviny.
