Control of vector-borne infectious diseases by human immunity against alpha-Gal
Original language description
Hominid primates and humans to do not possess the enzyme to synthesize Galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (α-Gal), a carbohydrate expressed by many vector-borne pathogens. This results in hominid primates and humans to produce high quantities of antibodies against α-Gal when exposed. Probiotics are publicly accepted as healthy supplements. Probiotics express α-Gal and daily intake may increase antibodies against α-Gal to protect against vector-borne pathogens.
