Epidemiological survey of enteric viruses of mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) in Czech Republic
Original language description
EAVLD 2018, Brusel. Wild birds including mallard ducks are generally known as important reservoirs of many pathogenic viruses including economically important diseases, which can be spread to poultry. With the exception of avian influenza virus, the presence of other avian viruses in the Czech Republic has not been surveyed yet. As mallards are well known as natural reservoir of LPAI strains, obtained results are not obviously surprising. However, there is continuous risk of spillover into domestic bird populations.
