Identifying the members of the chicken gut microbiota that can restrict Salmonella colonisation – invited conference presentation
Original language description
In this presentation we have introduced recent advances in the analysis of function of chicken gut microbiota. Chicken intestinal tract can be colonised by Bacteroidetes, Veillonellaceae and strictly anaerobic Proteobacteria and these can be used as for competitive exclusion of undesired microbiota. However, competitive exclusion need not be restricted to intestinal tract. Competitive exclusion may be adopted for improvement of skin or respiratory tract microbiota. Moreover, competitive exclusion can be used also outside chickens, in critical environmental points in chicken production chain.
