Efficacy of medicated feed to control Ichthyophthirius multifiliis infection in rainbow trout
Original language description
The ciliate Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (Ich) is the most common parasite of freshwater fish. It causes high economic losses in fish farms, especially in the younger age category of salmonid fish. Currently, there is no single treatment against Ich with sufficient efficiency. The objective of this study was to examine the potential efficacy of drugs commonly used in livestock in the Czech Republic against the Ich infection. Five compounds administered in medicated feed were tested in laboratory conditions – toltrazuril, amprolium, clopidol, doxycycline and praziquantel.
