Genomic DNA flanking IS900 insertions was characterized and homologues in the M. tuberculosis and M. avium subsp. avium genomes were identified. A multiplex PCR of IS900 loci typing method was developed which was able to discriminate different types of M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis.
