Ultrasound imaging of the transversus nuchae muscle: a potential entrapment site for the lesser occipital nerve
Original language description
The occipital nerve (LON) is part of the superficial cervical plexus and originates from the ventral rami of C2 and C3 nerve roots. An anatomical study has proposed the possibility of it being compressed not only by the occipital artery branch, but also by the fascial attachment of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the facial band.
