Výzkum použití biodegradabilních stentů při řešení stenóz velkých dýchacích cest. Průchodnost zúžených dýchacích cest může být v současnosti obnovena buď chirurgickou intervencí, nebo implantací silikonových či kovových stentů. Biodegradabilní stenty, které jsou šetrnější ke sliznici průdušnice, byly dosud použity pouze v zahraničí, a to spíše raritně při stenóze velkých dýchacích cest pouze u dětí nebo k podpoře transplantátu trachey. U dospělých pacientů se stenózou lokalizovanou v průdušnici zatím biodegradabilní stenty testovány nebyly.
