  • Original language description

I read with much interest the paper by Elsamna et al. evaluating the impact of metabolic syndrome (MetS) on postoperative thyroidectomy outcomes. The authors analyzed data of 138 318 patients (9321 with MetS) who underwent thyroidectomy and concluded that patients with MetS are at a greater risk of an increased length of postoperative stay, overall complications, and mortality.
