Feasibility of intraoperative continuous glucose monitoring: Letter to the editor
Original language description
The normal glucose range under physiological conditions is a result of the complex action of several hormones (insulin, glucagon, cortisol and growth hormone). This system is significantly impaired in patients with type 1 diabetes by the disappearance of insulin secretion. In most patients with type 2 diabetes, some degree of insulin secretion is preserved, and the above hormonal system is better able to respond to changes in glucose concentration, leading to less variability in glucose levels compared with type 1 diabetes subjects.
