Regulatory asymmetry in Alzheimer's disease care

  • Original language description

We welcome the European Commission's recent approval of lecanemab for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. This approval reflects growing recognition that disease-modifying treatments, despite their limitations, offer meaningful benefits. Both lecanemab and donanemab have shown that amyloid lowering can slow clinical progression in mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia of the Alzheimer's type.
