Impact of CVVH on monocyte activation in the critically ill.

  • Original language description

Monocyte activation (expression of HLA-DR) was suggested as a useful marker of sepsis-induced immunosuppression. As extracorporealcircuit (CVVH) might influence immune responses, we investigated the impact of CVVH on monocyte activation in critically ill. We compared HLA-DR expression on blood monocytes from 15 septic and 7 non-septic patients. Baseline of the expression and its time course did not show any significant differences between the groups of patients. Our results suggest no impact of CVVH onmonocyte HLA-DR expression in critically ill patients.
