Original language description
The professional publication, published in German and English, deals with the history and presence of the former glass settlements of Nová Louka and Kristiánov associated with the Riedel family. This is the first publication dedicated to this topic, which was created on the basis of a thorough study of archival sources and period literature. In addition to the history of glassmaking, the author emphasizes especially economic and social history. The rich pictorial part contains both preserved collection objects and period photographs from a number of private collections. The book also includes pedigrees of masters-glass masters, a detailed note-taking apparatus and a list of used sources and literature. The Museum of Glass and Jewellery, which published the publication, runs an external exhibition at Kristiánov and at the same time manages a collection of glass from the Riedel family.
